Wanda Rice Thomas, 82, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018. A devoted Christian, Wanda served the Lord with gladness for many years. She was an accomplished artist and pianist, playing in many churches through the years. She was kind and generous, had a strong sense of humor and loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Newell Franklin Thomas; four children, Kenneth Rhodes, Debra Godwin, Vickie Ross, Newell Franklin Thomas, Jr. "Frosty"; two sisters, Melody Keeter and Joy Campbell; and nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Sadly, she was preceded in death by three sons, Ricky Rhodes, Jeffrey Rhodes, and James Fredrick Thomas.

Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7th at Sherwood Forest Free Will Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest at a later date at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Wanda's honor to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
